Made of thin card, this very rare mid-1960s Italian-only release was never available outside Italy - nor was the press photo! George Best TRANSFER!  From late 1969 promotional transfers for the re-release of WIZARD COMIC in early 1970. This transfer is laid-down to paper, part of a page from an old school book, cut out carefully.

EXTREMELY RARE issue as transfers rarely last in their un-transferred state and this re-release was a very small and unsuccessful affair. There were not many of these issued nor did many survive! This is one of the first we have seen in nearly 50 years! We found a selection of these in the same school book, mostly Middlesbrough, some WBA and some Southampton but there were two George Bests - different to each other. See the other one further down this page.  X-RARE!

George Best WIZARD orange the other George Best transfer, only the 2nd known -ever! Like the red one above this is from late 1969 when promotional transfers were issued for the re-release of WIZARD COMIC in early 1970. This transfer is laid-down to paper, part of a page from an old school book, cut out carefully. EXTREMELY RARE issue!  Back is plain paper, part of a page from a school book that the original owner used to adhere this rarity, upon it's first, and only possible transfer, sometime in around 1970

Issued by cereal "Shredded Wheat" in 1961, Champions of Sport, but unlike most remaining copies this one has the token still attached and it is in EXCELLENT condition! It is also one of the 2 or 3 the most desirable cards from this series of 20 general sportsmen, many of whom have been forgotten.

 LIGHTER version on whiter cardstock MUCH RARER than supposed ... as rare as the 1930s issues AND RARER STILL as these cards have 3 - THREE - varieties. Post war paper supplies, being what they were, were hit and miss; so too was the printing, which is why these appear in at least THREE varieties, on white paper, or on buff-toned grey paper, and with so many types of off-set and litho print styles, dark and light backgrounds, etc. Surely one of the most difficult series to find all varieties of and impossible to complete a full set!

RadCorr70 Stiles MANCHESTER UNITED - Nobby Stiles - ENGLAND, Premium item, SOLD £25 SOLD

NOTE : all these are what are referred to, in the card trade, as 'packet issues'. They were printed in a magazine, intended to be cut out and stuck down into an album, supplied by the same magazine, in this case Radio Courier, a kind of "TV Times" of Italy. Issued for Mexico 70, and titled "COPPA RIMET MEXICO 70". All these paper stickers have some kind of triangular stamp hinge, or photo mount residue to the rear. They are priced according to condition. All are EXTREMELY RARE items as few remain loose, nor available on the market today.

 HOLD ON!  So, you think you know what this is£ Think again. See the little crest, top right, on the sticker ... this is the 2nd rarest 1966 Spanish type, La Caserta, rarer than the extremely rare Cibels Chocolates and much rarer than the Fher issue. These stickers are seldom found in great condition as they came with bottled drinks, and had to be removed from the bottle, behind the paper label, so they are usually damaged in some way with creasing and gum damage to the backs.  EXCEEDINGLY RARE! £40     BOBBY CHARLTON - MANCHESTER UNITED  Lots of wear BUT so so rare!

Advance test copy, ink stamped as an advance test pressing on the rear; a type that only appeared in quite different form a year later, in the "1972-1973" Benelux Panini launch (note French and Dutch language on rear; and Dutch language "proof example" red ink stamps).  This 1-off, as well as the other similar unique items here, has been in John Allen's archive for 3 decades! It seems 1 complete sheet of proof issues, each stamped, may have been cut neatly and divided into 1 of each card some years (decades£) ago. Never seen before! Issued for Mexico 70, and titled "COPPA RIMET MEXICO 70". All these paper stickers have some kind of triangular stamp hinge, or photo mount residue to the rear. They are priced according to condition. All are EXTREMELY RARE items as few remain loose, nor available on the market today.

ava77best RARER than most think ... these unusual stickers, of Italian-production origins that are obscured under the Anglo American sounding name, Ava Americana, were to flank Panini's first openly Italian post-EEC (pre-EU) entry into The British Isles, in 1977. Notwithstanding stickers by 'Top Sellers' (a cover organisation, for those "printed by Panini" stickers - and funded by Panini too, through a Soho publisher-house of erotica, to put it delicately) no Italian sticker empires had made it into GB/UK/BI before the EEC-1976  changes to trade laws. This series was the joint-first, alongside rival Panini's Euro Football (1977) series. These days to find these stickers un-used is quite a rare event indeed.

GEORGE BEST - The Original Toker, the goal poacher extraordinaire who followed the bear, to whom the vodka-martini goddesses did build a temple - mausoleum - and the greatest talent of his day (and he knew some talent, by all accounts!)
