red stars Mannion straight RED STARS late 1940s anonymous (Kiddy's Favourites) BUT with different letter  press back AND front - different placing of text and different sized lettering. Also different text wording to other red stars cards known - VERY different from the black stars versions!  Wide cut too! A proof? An early trial? A unique example - the only one like this seen by us in 30 years! The card is brittle and a bit damp in its odour but it's intact. Care should be shown to this gem as soon as it arrives with the lucky new owner ... this sale won't take long!

Wizard transfers TRANSFERS laid down. Mysterious issues, said to be from the re-launch of WIZARD comic, February 1970. All teams, Man Utd, Boro, Saints, West Brom etc., were found in an old excercise / accounts book. All were long ago 'transferred' from their backing paper. Very fragile items. Wilson 1922 anon Boro zj5-47 1922 anonymous (Scottish?) issue - only 5 of these are known - of Andy Wilson, then of Boro, latterly well-loved Chelsea & then Q.P.R. player.  Trade Index reference is ZJ5-47.  These cards are, of course, rather rare - to understate matters!

Nobby Stiles, a Middlesbrough player once upon a time. Unused, neatly cut, as intended, dotted lines marking edge of sticker are still visible;  the plain, gummed back is still un-used, still ready to moisten and stick-down. The gum is still in good order! Very neat, top condition - with un-cut lower border - RARE like this. £15.00 GBP Sterling.

sorcALTplatt Portugal Issue Only. Futebol Euro 84. "Ed.Sorcasius" (£) or Clube Do Cromos" (£) or "ISAO" £  No certain identification but these are just the same as the Sorcasius stickers, except they are on yellow, mostly all-yellow backgrounds, some with a bit of green some with the name "Isao de Portugal SA" and the printing looks like it was done on an old style roller litho press, as it's a bit 'off' but that adds to the charm.

This is just one example, showing here is JIM PLATT of Middlesbrough and Northern Ireland.  NOTE : the Sorcasius edition has much cleaner printing, on FKS-style white paper, plain backs. Otherwise, they are the same dimensions, and from the same source, it seems.

OFF-SET type, darker-tone grey card, light background

 Boro interest£     MUCH RARER than supposed ... as rare as the 1930s issues AND RARER STILL as these have 3 - THREE - varieties. Post war paper supplies, being what they were, were hit and miss; so too was the printing, which is why these appear in at least THREE varieties, on white paper, or on buff-toned grey paper, and with so many types of off-set and litho print styles, dark and light backgrounds, etc. Surely one of the most difficult series to find all varieties of and impossible to complete a full set!
