PROOF issues! Advance test copies! Ink-stamped on rear 'advance type', proofs that only appeared in quite different form a year later, in the "1972-1973" Benelux Panini launch (note French and Dutch language on rear; and Dutch language "proof example" red ink stamps).  These 1-offs, as well as the other, very few similar, unique items here, have been in John Allen's archive for 3 decades! It seems that 1 complete sheet of proof issues, each stamped, may have been cut neatly and divided into 1 of each card some years (decades?) ago. Not seen in 30 years collecting rare and exotic cards. Showing here are GEORGE BEST and CELTIC proofs. For more of this Benelux test printing for "Football 1972-1973" click these small images. Pele6768panini Pele from the same Panini Italian cards set from which the George Best card  has often sold at well over £100. On its last known Ebay sale it made £115+ before extras.  This Pelé card is about VG,  though has a small mark to rear from a stamp hinge, some years ago. VERY VERY SCARCE. Only £35.00 - a snip compared to what this has often sold for at auction.

spurs69decal EXTREMELY RARE in the unused state, as for sale here, 1969 Italian-only issue Panini decal-transfer - not a sticker, and this is exactly why these are so rare. Virtually all were 'transferred' (by children using water, as per model aeroplane kits) either on to the spot in the album, for that year's Panini collection - in Italy - that was designed to receive it, or on to anything and everything else, skin, cupboard doors, glass... just as most of us, once upon a time, 'transferred' these delicate objects, these 'decals', as they are properly known.Still with plain backing paper and front-side clear transfer paper, with 1 corner slightly peeled-back, it's VERY GOOD.  £40

ava77best RARER than most think ... these unusual stickers, of Italian-production origins that are obscured under the Anglo American sounding name, Ava Americana, were to flank Panini's first openly Italian post-EEC (pre-EU) entry into The British Isles, in 1977. Notwithstanding stickers by 'Top Sellers' (a cover organisation, for those "printed by Panini" stickers - and funded by Panini too, through a Soho publisher-house of erotica, to put it delicately) no Italian sticker empires had made it into GB/UK/BI before the EEC-1976  changes to trade laws. This series was the joint-first, alongside rival Panini's Euro Football (1977) series. These days to find these stickers un-used is quite a rare event indeed. ArsVorient Here's another one of those very obscure Spanish cards (see the '?Liverpool/Orient?' oddity below for the other one)  here showing Arsenal in that away strip with the blue cannon centre chest (1977/78) versus Leyton Orient (in an unusual home strip?) (also 77/78) at CHELSEA! yes, at Stamford Bridge. It was the F.A.Cup semi-final, when Orient made the last 4, under the legendary Jimmy Bloomfield's guidance. Frank Stapleton and Malcolm MacDonald are seen for The Gunners, and Roeder and Fisher for The O's.

EXCEEDINGLY RARE! 1 only. You won't find this again! Offers chances open for a couple of days 'til I get it properly listed here.

 cal73liv

This Spanish oddity came with the above Orient v Arsenal card of similar origins. Were they both the result of an O's fan working/living in Spain in those days?  Perhaps never seen before now by UK football card collectors, this is a 1973 calendar card (similar size to A&BC GUM cards of the era) that is from a British match action (there is a YOUNG'S STRONG EXPORT BITTER advert hoarding, and another fro RAZORS. Who are the teams? Red versus Yellows. Is the yellow an away kit? Are we seeing Orient, Sunderland (they did have an all-red kit in those years) Liverpool or ...?  There's a big crowd, two-tier stand; with blue fence divide (similar seen on old pix of Brisbane Road) It's a mystery card, for  the moment. This card has some ink staining but it affects the back more than than the front. Fair to good but you'd be more likely to find the proverbial needle in yonder haystack than see another one of these.
