Liverpool Baines |

Baines shaped card of Liverpool! Needless to say there is a huge
market for this and it will not sell at less than £200 VG condition.
There are probably only 2 or 3 of these in the world.
If this was an equivalent baseball card, 1 of only 2 or 3 known,
it could fetch about £5,000. Soccer cards WILL get there... after
all we have a bigger fan base. It's all about education ... slowly
it's been happening. Ever more so prices are rising to their just
levels and, even at £250 this is under-valued. It's value is only
GOING UP ... next year this card will be priced at 300... and
ever-up! Get it now SOLD £200 |

from c.1885 this is an incredibly early and exceedingly rare
MANCHESTER CITY artefact - almost a religious icon, in fact! From
the mid-1880s when City were known as Gorton, between their West
Gorton and Ardwick transformations, this may be a unique surviving
example of that earlier incarnation of today's preeminent Manchester
club. A veritable one-off opportunity at £195.00 130 years old, this GORTON FC Sharpe's Play Up footy card, featuring
the meeting place of the rivers Irk and Irwell where the historical
Manchester castle once stood is beyond merely 'rare'. Any
"SHARPE'S PLAY UP"

Extremely rare Bradford Northern (related to
Bradford Park Avenue) Rugby Football Club (The
"All White") card. This Baines Shield card shows the many
times capped England rugby player J. T. Toohill.
Thanks to Mr. Evan Jones, for this information: "[your]
card is Bradford Northern and the player is J T Toohill who won 11
England UNION caps. The parting of the northern teams from Union did
not take place till 1895 and no League internationals took place
till 1904 and the first true international against overseas teams
did not take place until1908 1st January when Wales played the New
Zealand tourists at Aberdare, England played them on the 11th at
Wigan. I have Toohill on another two Baines card captioned Play up
Bradford."
Evan's main collecting interests are Welsh sports men and women.
We really appreciate his help with the identification of this rare
and beautiful card. As a cartophilic aside, of some interest, Evan
remembers Martin Murray from way before his shop and auction days,
when he was dealing in cards from his garage! That's quite a
thought. I bet the cards were worth more than the garage. Thanks
again to Evan Jones.
